Description:What does freedom mean to you? What would you give up to be free? In this history-based workshop, we’ll review the history of Berlin and discuss its similarities to Los Angeles. You will have the opportunity to hear fascinating stories from people who left everything behind to be free and share your wishes, dreams and hopes. As a grand finale, your writing will be celebrated at City Hall by the mayors of Berlin and Los Angeles, Eric Garcetti and Michael Müller.

Students must be able to attend all workshop dates including the special presentation:

Teacher:Kerstin Zilm & Isabella Mamatis
Teacher Bio:Kerstin writes radio stories in German and English and has also written a book about California. She feels most free when she is close to the ocean.

Isabella is an actress and theater director. For 12 years she is working on making her dream come true to build a Long Table for freedom, peace and democracy around the world. Freedom for her is as important as breathing air. She cannot live without it.
